29-year-old Sammy Winward's alter-ego is killed off in a surprising new
storyline.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: 'Katie's death is going to be a real tear-jerker.'

According to the publication, Katie will die after remarrying her childhood love, Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher).
The insider added: 'She's finally found her way back to her childhood sweetheart but their happiness will be short lived.'
The soap star reportedly revealed her intention to quit shortly after filming the wedding.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: 'Sammy is the Michelle Keegan of Emmerdale so everyone is gutted that she's leaving.
'She's hugely popular and her character has been a big part in the show overtaking EastEnders.

Sammy has played stable manager Katie since July 2001 - when she joined the soap aged 15 years old.
She
was introduced to viewers as Andy Sugden’s first girlfriend and has
been at the centre of plots that have seen her get married, have
numerous affairs, suffer a miscarriage, and shatter her pelvis after a
fall.
Sammy,
from Edgworth, Lancs, was previously engaged to Blackburn Rovers
midfielder David Dunn and the pair had a daughter Mia in June 2005, but
they split just three months later.
