Last week, she made headlines when she quit I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! after just 72 hours in the Australian jungle.
And
while Gemma Collins subsequently announced her decision to take a break
from TV after the tough time she endured Down Under, it appears that
she's had a sudden change of heart.
A
representative for the star has confirmed to MailOnline that the bubbly
blonde returned to shoot scenes for TOWIE on Wednesday, in time for the
anticipated Christmas special.
You can take the girl out of Essex...
Days after quitting I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, Gemma
Collins has returned to shooting scenes for her hit show TOWIE
'Gemma
is back filming with us for the Christmas special,' a rep for the show
also confirmed to MailOnline. 'Yesterday she and the other cast
travelled to Calais from Dover on a Christmas trip.'
The episode featuring Gemma's surprise return is set to air on December 10 on ITVBe.
The news appears to be a welcome ray of light for the TV personality, after her brother expressed deep concern for her welfare.
The last straw: Gemma Collins' brother
Russell believes the I'm A Celeb star is the lowest he's ever seen her,
after leaving the jungle
Plenty on her mind: Gemma is believed to have come to blows with her boyfriend Alex Moss only days before entering the jungle
Russell,
who is Gemma's older sibling, has revealed that she was in a very
fragile state before entering the Australian jungle and after several
blows in her personal life, he believes the premature exit may be the
final straw.
Speaking
out for the first time, Russell, 38, has said his 33-year-old little
sister has reached the lowest point that he's ever known her.
TOWIE star Gemma's on and off relationship came to a reportedly violent end just before she left for Australia two weeks ago.
Contemplative: Russell knows that Gemma was fragile before going into the jungle and thinks she's reached her lowest point
The
blonde bombshell was suffering from the stress of opening a new
boutique and also received regular abuse over her size 22 figure in
public and on social media - all of which were factors that Russell
believed to have contributed to her jungle decline.
Speaking to Heat
magazine this week, Russell revealed: 'It's the lowest I've ever known
her to be. Underneath the brashness, she's very fragile and I think this
could be the final straw. She can only take so much.'
'I
think the events before going were devastating for Gemma, and she went
out there feeling very vulnerable and very insecure. To see her upset in
the jungle was heartbreaking. It was tragic.'
Split: Gemma was reportedly forced to call the police when an argument escalated in her home with ex Alex
Her
older brother explained how Gemma would love to meet the right man and
get married, having experienced multiple disappointments on the
boyfriend front.
In
early November, just days before her flight to Australia, it was
alleged that the reality TV star was forced to call police to her home
after an argument with ex-convict boyfriend Alex Moss escalated to a
dangerous degree.
The news came as she'd enjoyed the opening of her second clothing boutique in Brentwood, Essex.
Making things worse: Russell believes Gemma needs to take a step back now and settle down with Mr Right
Not stable: Gemma's psychi George Valentino has also revealed this week that he fears she might have a meltdown
Russell
continued to the magazine: 'I think continuously being knocked all the
time, or not being made to feel confident in herself by the people she
has been with, has had a bit of an effect on her. She needs some
normality and to sort herself out.'
Gemma's
psychic George Valentino, whom she calls a close friend, echoed her
brother's sentiments, explaining how Gemma wasn't in a stable state when
she prepared for the gruelling TV competition.
He told Closer magazine
this week: 'Gemma had a meltdown just days beforehand over her
relationship, plus she had the stress of her shop, and was hurt by
comments about her weight.'
Heading home: Gemma had a breakdown before the jungle and her friend fears it could be worse now
Like
Gemma, George thought the jungle would provide a good escape for the
newly-single star, but he now admits it's only made things worse.
'I'm scared Gemma will have a full-on mental breakdown. She's very fragile at the moment and she's extremely self-critical.'
In
the wake of her exit, Gemma has already expressed an interest in taking
time off from TV, confessing that she should have given more thought to
her readiness for the project.
The
blonde more recently revealed that she was advised by a counsellor not
to go into the jungle, but ignored the warnings for fear of letting
people down, she told ITV's Daybreak on returning down on British soil.
A brave face: The TOWIE star has received a series of blows, but friends worry this could be the last and biggest
