Hey now X Factor! Ben Haenow steals the show with Beatles song chosen by One Direction... despite splitting the judges over his efforts to cover Ed Sheeran

It was a tough night for the X Factor contestants as they had their first week of singing two songs each.
While some needed their second to bring them back in the running Ben Haenow opened the show with a bang, singing Come Together by The Beatles.
The 29-year-old had the song chosen by X Factor royalty One Direction and Louis Tomlinson told him,'Work hard, good luck!'

One Direction: The famous boy band gave Ben Haenow the perfect song, Come Together by The Beatles
Ben was back to top form after his risky efforts last week and the judges were full of nothing but praise.
Mel told him, 'You have everything going on right now. You are a rock star. This is how I love you!'
His second song wasn't as well received across the panel, as he attempted Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud.
Perfect performance: The song, the production, the styling - the judges had nothing but praise for Ben

'I love you': Mel B was a huge fan of Ben's performance

The judges couldn't agree, with Mel telling him it lacked 'light and shade' and Simon and Cheryl suggesting it was just difficult to hear it sung by anyone else.
For Lauren Platt's first round performance Cheryl promised us a surprise as she sang dance hit Clarity by Zedd chosen by Little Mix.
Joined once again by her little brother on stage, Lauren struggled slightly with a couple of the high notes having spent the week dealing with strep throat.
No Ed Sheeran: Ben Haenow sang Thinking Out Loud and split the judges
She told Dermot she was proud of her performance given how dodgy she had been sounding in rehearsals.
Tulisa gave Stereo Kicks Bruno Mars' hit song Just The Way You Are, leaving them with the same advice she gave Little Mix: 'Believe'.
As ever, they sounded better singing as a group compared to their solo vocals.
Dance diva: Lauren Platt struggled with her club hit Clarity having suffered with step throat all week
Just they way they are? Stereo Kicks gave a weak performance of Bruno Mars' hit song
Unknown song: Fleur East was given Fall In Love by Tina Turner and Mel and Cheryl weren't keen on the unfamiliar song
Mel B told them, 'the track swallowed you tonight, the vocals weren't as good as they should be.'
Simon Cowell came to their defence claiming that they had their routine changed at the last minute.
Fleur East had Emilie Sande choosing her track, Fall In Love by Tina Turner.
Despite having never heard the song before, she made the most of having fewer dance moves than usual, showing off her vocal.
She had Louis Walsh on his feet: 'You've got star quality, you have to make the final!'
Fighting! Andrea Faustini was back singing Chandelier trying to avoid the sing-off again
Mel and Cheryl both weren't huge fans but congratulated her on 'making it current'.
Back from the sing-off last week, Andrea Faustini had Chandelier by Sia to sing, chosen by Sam Smith.
Taking on a more modern track than his usual Whitney Houston style performances, Andrea did his best to prove he shouldn't be back in the bottom two again.
Once again, Simon Cowell gave him criticism, this time for 'pushing the song too hard'.
Prom princess: Lauren's song reminded her of her school prom where she sang it with her friends
'Pop princess': Louis Walsh heaped his favourite bit of praise on Lauren

It was then the turn of the public to dish out the tracks.
Lauren Platt was given Don't You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia, which she slowed down like her first week efforts.
The judges were all thrilled with her second round efforts, 'a perfect little pop star,' Louis said.
Next up was Stereo Kicks who were given Run by Snow Patrol, the song that got them through boot camp.
Run! The boys were hoping they could recapture the magic of their boot camp performance of the Snow Patrol song

Emotional Kick: Charlie was overcome as the boys sang their first song again
Far out performing their first round selves, the boys had the judges in agreement, a great effort to remind people why they're still in the competition.
Fleur East was then back with, Alicia Keys, If I Ain't Got You.
She gave a decent performance, but not as impressive as we've seen from some.
Although Cheryl told her it was her best ballad of the competition.
Slowed it down: Fleur tried a dance-free performance, singing Alicia Keys, If I Aint Got You
Andrea was last up and was given Hero by Mariah Carey, in an effort to change it up a bit, he sang the first verse in Italian.
He then went on nail to the classic power ballad, with Cheryl telling him, 'they saved the best till last'.
Simon even finally gave him some praise: 'You've had a great night.'
