All the wrong moves: Strictly favourite Jake Wood gets shockingly low score as his Greek-style Argentine Tango fails to impress judges

Since joining the cast of this year's Strictly Come Dancing, Jake Wood has been one of the show's surprise leaders, consistently landing high scores for his impressive moves.
But on Saturday night, he appeared to suffer something of a crisis in the ballroom, as his efforts failed to impress the judges.
The EastEnders star and his dance partner Janette Manrara opted to perform a Greek-infused Argentine Tango as part of the BBC1 show's Dancing Around The World special, but it failed to ignite the usual reactions of praise.

Actor Jake seemed to show much promise as he began his routine energetically yelling the Greek exclamation: 'Opa!'
And while he showed some smooth and controlled dance moves during his routine, his stumble part-way through lost him a lot of vital points - and earned him a harsh critique.
Craig Revel Horwood branded it 'a complete dance disaster', adding: 'That went horribly wrong from the beginning... It didn't work, sadly.'
Fizzle: Normally earning top scores, Jake and Janette Manrara picked up a meagre 29 out of 40

Darcey Bussell was a little kinder, as she said: 'It's a shame that it went wrong because I could see that there was going to be something special there.'
And head judge Len Goodman noted how 'tough' the dance was, while Bruno Tonioli gave the routine credit for its entertainment value.
But the audience and Jake alike were later stunned when Craig handed him a record low score of just five out of 10.
Winning: A week before, the actor, along with his dance partner topped the leaderboard with an impressive score of 38

While the other judges were a little more encouraging, the routine earned Jake a relatively mediocre total of 29 out of 40, leaving him visibly disappointed.
The night proved to be successful for Caroline Flack, who scored 39 out of 40 for her Charleston with a Turkish twist.
Last week, Jake wowed with his feisty twerking moves as he and Janette Manrara tackled the Samba to Los Del Rio’s Macarena.

The 40-year-old actor received a standing ovation as head judge Len said: ‘It was out there and mental fun – I loved it!’
‘You are a box of surprises,’ Darcey Bussell commented. ‘It is so strange that you could pull the twerking off. There was so much samba there.’
The stars will find out who goes home on Sunday's instalment of the BBC1 show, with the final six advancing to next weekend's quarter finals.
