Mel B has been slammed after spending Christmas with husband Stephen Belafonte amid claims her seven-year marriage to the film producer is over.
The 39-year-old former Spice Girl confirmed her reconciliation with Belafonte by posting a loving family snap on Christmas Day following weeks of rumours over the state of their relationship.
But Mel’s brother-in-law, Oregon based Jeremiah Stansbury, has painted a bleak portrait of their marriage and claims the Leeds born singer is ‘addicted’ to Belafonte, who she married in 2007.

Hitting out: Mel B has been slammed by brother-in-law Jeremiah Stanbsbury after uploading a picture of herself with her daughters (l-r) Madison, Phoenix and Angel - as well as her husband Stephen Belafonte - on Christmas Day
He told The Sun: ‘It’s foolish. She could do so much better. Steve is an expert at mind games. Mel has her own insecurities and that’s how he got her in the first place. She’s addicted to him and the sad thing is she doesn’t have to be.’
Mel’s marriage to Belafonte, also 39, came under scrutiny following a shock hospitalisation that forced her to miss the first half of The X Factor live final on December 13.
The singer, thought to have been struck down with a mystery stomach bug, reportedly ‘banned’ Belafonte from her hospital room while she recovered.
Denial: Mel B's daughter Phoenix spoke out in defence of her stepfather Stephen Belafonte
Comments: The 15-year-old made the statement in response to criticism underneath an Instagram photo he posted of the pair of them on Christmas Eve
He later jetted back to the United States while she travelled to Wembley Arena for the culmination of the hit ITV show, where fans noted the appearance of apparent bruises on her face.
‘A lot of people ask me what she sees in him,’ said Jeremiah. ‘She’s into bad dudes. Regular guys are boring.’
Belafonte recently hit back at claims he physically attacked Mel, telling MailOnline: 'You can only re-mix ten things, ten ways, so many times,' he told MailOnline.
'Who accused me of it, did she accuse me of it, the police, the hospital, who accused me of it?’
He added: 'I thought when you beat someone up the police or the hospital or the person you beat up says it.'
Look who's back: Mel returned to the two-part X Factor live final on December 18 after a shock hospitalisation caused her to miss the first half the previous night
Mel’s festive snap finds the singer smiling as she cradles her youngest child Madison, three, in her arms.
The star looked relaxed and casual as she shared a couch with her other daughters, Phoenix, 15, and Angel, seven – and a beaming Belafonte.
She captioned the shot: 'Have a merry Christmas! #familytime #funday'.
The picture was shared just a day after her daughter Phoenix - whose father is dancer Jimmy Gulzar - responded to users who criticised Belafonte on a picture he posted of the two of them.
'Can everyone just chill he didn't hit my mom don't know how that stupid rumour came up,' the teen wrote.
