It was to be her first Christmas since separating with husband Ben Cohen in September.
And Abigail Cohen, his partner for 11 years, was feeling the strain on Tuesday when she tweeted and later deleted a message saying she was too 'broken' to get out of bed.
Abby, who has two six-year-old daughters with the former Strictly star and Rugby ace, was spending this Christmas as a single mum, while Ben volunteered for the charity Crisis UK.

Heartache: This Christmas, her first since splitting with husband Ben Cohen, Abby Cohen said she was feeling 'very broken'
The day before Christmas Eve, Abby - who's Twitter images still feature her teenage sweetheart - told her followers: ‘Don't want to get up!! feeling very broken today’ which was completed with a teary-eyed emoticon.
Ben's Strictly dance partner Kristina Rihanoff was targeted on Twitter in the wake of the married couple's split, being labelled a 'homewrecker,' which later lead her to contemplate suicide, she admitted last week.
News of Kristina's struggle has reportedly hit Abby hard, with a source telling The Sunday Mirror: 'It has been a terrible time for Abigail and now she has to read this stuff she is coming out with saying how bad it has all been for her.
Happier times: Abby and Ben had been together since their teenage years, announcing their split in September
No relationship: Abby and Ben split shortly after Ben's appearance of Strictly Come Dancing with Kristina Rihanoff but the pair both deny any relationship
'Abigail is the one who has suffered over this and she's the one people should sympathise with.'
Ben and Abigail followed in the footsteps of former Strictly stars like Susanna Reid - who split from the father of her three children - and Rachel Riley - who made her split from her husband known in November - when they called time on their relationship, post-dancing appearance.
At the time, the separation was blamed on Ben's close connection with professional Kristina, though both have vehemently denied any relationship.
Close connection: Kristina and Ben were spending increasing amounts of time together after the show, enjoying charity work together as friends
In the immediate aftermath of the split, Abby retweeted Life Facts' inspirational posts that read: 'No matter how hard it is, just keep going because you only fail when you give up.'
Followed by a cyptic post that read: 'You might not get over it, but you'll get through it.'
Ben met his wife in 1995, at the age of 17, and the couple married in 2003 before having their daughters in 2008.
Family man: Ben is the father of twin girls, now aged six, with ex-wife Abigail after they started a family in 2008
This Christmas, Ben shared his excitement at helping to serve lunch at Crisis UK on Twitter the day before Christmas, but made no mention of sharing the festive period with his wife and daughters.
Ben and Abby's public statement in September read: 'Ben and Abby Cohen have agreed to take time apart to deal with some marital issues but remain fully committed to the welfare of their children.
'There is no third party involved, and Ben and Abby now ask that their privacy and that of their family be respected at this difficult time.'
Teenage sweethearts: Ben first met Abby when he was 17 and the pair were together until they married in 2003
