Since
bursting onto the music scene in 2008 with her debut album 19, Adele
has been celebrated as one of Britain's most soulful voices.
But
after years of carving out a career with R&B-tinged hits, the
Grammy winner, 26, is now planning to give her upcoming album more of a
pop sound, according to The Sun.
The
newspaper reports that she has been toiling away in the studio with
American producer Greg Kurtsin, responsible for such hits as Burn by
Ellie Goulding and Take That's current chart-topper These Days - as well
as Lily Allen's first two albums.

source said: 'Greg's a genius and one of the powers behind many pop
hits. But it's a huge surprise he's working with Adele because it
suggests she's considering taking a much more pop-focussed direction for
her new record.
'She's
also had some serious concerns about the quality of her new album, so
this is an indication that she wants a proven hitmaker on board. She
knows the whole world is waiting for her new music and wants it to be
perfect.'
Just
days ago, it was also revealed that Adele was in the studio with Damon
Albarn, leading to speculation that he was set to produce her entire
album, entitled 25.

While
it was initially expected that the follow-up to her acclaimed album 21
would be released later this year, XL Records revealed in October that
singer will not be releasing any new music in 2014.
The
record company said in a statement: 'There will not be a further new
release by Adele during 2014 and consequently there will be a fall in
XL's turnover and profits.'
Back
in May, Adele teased her fans with a cryptic tweet that read: 'Bye bye
25...See you again later in the year,' with a picture of herself
nervously giving a thumbs up.

Teaser? As Adele celebrated her 26th
birthday in May, she sparked speculation that her album would soon be
released, after she cryptically tweeted: 'Bye bye 25...See you again
later in the year.'
Fans immediately deduced that it meant the star was gearing up to release the follow-up her multi-platinum selling album.
Meanwhile,
Adele has been enjoying a busy home life as mother to her two-year-old
son Angelo James, with her partner Simon Konecki.
Adele released her last single, Skyfall, in 2012 which earned her an Oscar.
