I Don’t Promote Nudity In My Videos – Banky W

At a press conference held at Terra Kulture in Victoria Island Lagos Friday for the launch of the remix and campaign, journalists questioned the panel of D’Banj, Diamond Platinumz, Omotola Jalade, Waje, Banky W, Bono, and others on the nudity, especially of women, in some of their videos as this is contrary to the course they are fighting for – girls’ and women’s rights.
Banky W, however, countered the notion that he promotes nudity saying, “Throughout my career, I have never shot a dirty video or promoted nudity in my videos except for the few ones I featured on.  And I don’t believe that we should force every artiste to sing a certain type of song or video let art be art and let them do whatever they like.
“It is hypocritical of us to sit here and say all artistes are shooting a particular kind of video. That is simply not true. Everyone has a role to play in the kind of video that goes on tv. For example, late last year, two of my favourite videos that I have ever done, Mercy and Unborn Child, they are very strong songs and have positive messages in them. And of all the videos I have done in my life those two videos have the  least views and airplay.
“But when I sang ‘Lagos Party’, ‘Yes/ No’, ‘Strong Thing’ they were huge in the media. I guarantee you that every artiste has a positive song on their albums but if you are not going to let an artiste business survive, they will have to do what you like. So let’s stop being hypocritical that because we are doing a fantastic movement like this everything should be on hold encourage us too by requesting the positive songs too.”

D’Banj, Diamond Platnumz, Banky W and Femi Kuti and Bono, the lead singer of U2 and co founder of ONE.org joined forces with Omotola Jolade, Waje, Selmor Mtukudzi on the remix of Strong Girls and Women.
The song produced by Cobhamns Asuquo advocates women’s empowerment initiative to conscientize the public on the need for greater investment in girls and women.
The initiative is based on the idea that poverty is sexist meaning, it is harder for a girl born in poverty to fight it out than a boy and poverty won’t be defeated until women and girls are put first.

Bra-clad Rita Ora writhes around with shirtless Chris Brown as the pair get intimate in raunchy Body On Me video

They gave fans an idea of what to expect in a steamy teaser released on her Instagram page on Tuesday.
But no one could've predicted just how raunchy the accompanying video to Rita Ora and Chris Brown's single Body On Me would be.
The new X Factor judge released the full version of the racy visual on her Twitter page on Tuesday evening much to the delight of her 4.92 million followers.

Hot Right Now: Topless Rita Ora frolics around with a Union Jack flag before getting intimate with shirtless Chris Brown in the full Body On Me video

In the video, Rita, 24, and Chris, 26, play neighbours who meet in the lift before entering their separate apartments where they fantasize about each other.

The barely-clothed chart stars flirt outrageously before getting intimate.
Rita and Chris are then seen breathing on each other's necks with their hands all over each other as they come close to kissing.

The Hot Right Now hit-maker wears a black bra and a pair of denim hot pants as she stimulates sex with the shirtless rapper.
Another segment sees Rita showcase her patriotism as she frolics with a Union Jack wrapped around her topless body.
The four-minute clip was directed by Colin Tilley - the man behind Nicki Minaj's unforgettable Anaconda video.

Rita is well aware of how provocative the video is and recently told Capital FM's Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon: 'It's probably one of the most intimate videos I've ever done, but it's really exciting.'
She added: 'This song is definitely kind of like the most intimate that I’ve ever done, so I tried to balance the video out in a classy way,' to New York station, Hot 97.
Chris, who's starred in his fair share of sexy music videos, told the Brit radio hosts: 'You know, there was some grown stuff. I had to put on my sexy face for two minutes.
'The track is musical, sexual, intense and intimate. It’s something to give you chills but also shake the crowd up a little bit.'
The song - which debuted at number 23 in the UK chart - is the second single release from Rita's forthcoming album, the title of which remains unknown, following Poison which debuted at number three in the UK in June.

Chinese-Nigerian releases gospel album including Igbo track

Chen Emmanuel, featured here a few months ago. has released a power-packed gospel album that explores all genres of music ranging from Gospel rap, to worship, blues to rock.

The main track Yahweh has received multiple reviews from renowned singers including Minister Micah Stampley and Nikki Laoye. Chen Emmanuel is a gospel Singer/Songwriter based in Abuja.

Chen is a very jovial human who enjoys leading people of God into worship in unity. He doesn’t have so much interest in singing but basically in songwriting, He is an amazing lyricist. He loves to be motivational and bring a twist to facts that makes you see the hidden truth about some circumstances in life.

The song Yahweh itself, came by inspiration exactly one week from meeting renowned gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey. It inspired him to write more songs revolving around the name Yahweh- The I Am. His motivation comes from insights from the word of God and creation itself. His greatest models are Micah Stampley, Donnie Mcclurkin, Tasha Cobbs, Eben and Nathaniel Bassey.

Hopefully the debut album, YAHWEH would strike you at a point that speaks directly to you. The songs would not just be his story, but your story to you and a reason to believe that the best is yet to come.

Don’t listen to We Are The World by African all stars unless you’re trying to get a bone out of your throat-Etcetera

This is another article by Etcetera where he thinks listening to 'We Are The World by African all stars' is a waste of time and thinks the song is rubbish.
"Well, I think I’m finally safe to write this article, since I’ve set up my e-mail software to automatically filter out any messages containing swear words. Sincerely, I don’t know if there’s any song that made me change the TV station faster than this one. If I didn’t, I’d have been doomed to have a group of adults with hideous and unsync voices chanting,“we are the children” over and over in my head for the next six months.
And that certainly isn’t all that’s wrong with the song. Michael Jackson would probably be spitting and cursing in his grave right now, like a pregnant woman with whitlow on her ten fingers and toes. What the heck were they thinking changing his beautifully composed piece of art to the most insipid crap ever written?
I’m going to tell you this for free; don’t listen to We Are The World by African all stars unless you’re trying to get a bone out of your throat. That is only when the song would be useful.
We know that African music isn’t made up of the best singers anymore, but honestly, how did they think that they could fill up a seven-minute song with nothing but monotonous chanting of the same feeble chorus over and over again?
The humorous highlight of the song is Kcee’s ridiculous line “There’s a choice we making, we saving our own lives.” Never has the word (saving our own lives) meant so opposite. And the only choice that could have been made by the organisers was not to have included Kcee in the song. He was even off key for Christ sake. Kcee, your hilarious accent is to be commended.
Luckily I could warn the rest of you who haven’t listened. Kcee is the first reason this is the most repulsive rendition of this song ever.
There were other worse vocals like Sean Tizzle’s, but Tiwa Savage sounded like a two- year- old being dragged out of a toy store. She should know when to keep the vibrato off her voice. And For a minute I thought Banky W was going to faint. Whoever chose the key to this song should have been reminded that most Nigerian singers are all about auto-tune and can’t hold their notes.
Jesus Christ, what is happening to music? This is easily the worst combination of voices in human history. Only the most despicable revisionist historian could possibly claim that this song is anything close to good. It’s nothing more than a hideous irritation festival from the individual who sold the idea to the sponsors.
While writing this article, someone suggested that maybe vocals wasn’t the criterion for selecting the artistes. REALLY? Are you kidding me? Then they should have gone for the kill. Artquake should have been in there somewhere, Or perhaps even Daddy Showkey. A number of you are probably thinking “hey, come on, I kinda like that song.” Of course, every lover of today’s Nigerian music will surely like the song. This is the musical equivalent of Agege bread: it’s meant to be packed with so much artificial crap that it’s bound to appeal in some way to Nigerians.
No matter how musically credible you are, no matter how much cutting-edge indigenous songs you listen to, whether you snore in baritone in your sleep or not, this song is a shame. It is the kind of rendition that makes today’s Nigerian music uncool. If you have listened to it, the fact that the singers were trying too hard to sound like the original version should have made you turn off your TV in disgust. If you haven’t, download it right now. I dare you to try to make it through the first 10 seconds. It is the ultimate endurance test.
If you’d care to suggest another song for me to review, you can always feel free to do so by e-mailing me at mail@etceteralive.com. If you’re the guy who e-mailed me about being a Wizkid fan, for the love of God, get some help.

Meet Maka
MAKA, Profiled!
MAKA is decided on an innovative trail less travelled to achieving industry uniqueness through her music that makes a splicing statement by conniving with and splitting from trance to fusion, hiphop, RnB, metallic, rumba, highlife to traditional gangan sounds to create her signature Afrocentric soul art. She is set to take centre stage as an artiste driving her music on wheels of purpose while strutting heels of sound, lyrical and instrumental perfection, delivering her self-styled music like messages in envelopes sealed and opened as singles to reveal vapour that simmers off inspirational scents of love, culture, trends, God, history, lifestyle, corporate life, everything and all of everything.
Born Nwamaka Sam- Ejehu, MAKA is an eclectic singer and songwriter. With a singing career nursed from the age of three, she began as part of the children’s choir led by her mother at her church, where she rendered her first solo at age six before an entire congregation. This childlike love for singing blossomed into song writing at age 12 leading to the build-up of a professional music career influenced by maestros and song birds that includes Everly Brothers, Sade Adu, Lauryn Hill, Pharell, Robin Thicke and Asa to create the rippling, soul searching MAKA coined riveting-afro-soul genre.
A Lawyer by profession, MAKA funnily made a test leap into music-dom as an undergraduate of the University of Lagos, recording her first song ‘Angry’ for the DonJazzy Enigma Freestyle Competition. With the song gaining momentum to Top 50 best entries, MAKA has continued to pedal forward, throttling with the introduction of her first official single, ‘Coming Out’ followed by campus audience pleasers such as No Dull, Oya, Malera, and Loving You featuring RnB singer, Byno which won Beat FM’s FreshBeats’ competition for March 2012.
Her young career has seen her performing backup roles for notable artistes such as Jesse Jagz and Dipo, credited for her backup vocals for BlackMagic’sConfam and Shakara off his Vision 2.0 album and featuring as a new gal on the block on incandescent rapper, Naeto Cs forthcoming album. MAKA also wrote the theme song for Indigo, a new entry music series showing live on Ebony TV.
