'There's a chance she won't make it': X Factor bosses fear Mel B will not be able to appear in the live finals as the Spice Girl is struck down with mystery illness



She was forced to pull out of Thursday’s X Factor press event due to a mystery illness.
And it is feared that Mel B could miss out on the live finals this weekend after she was forced to also miss out on a full evening of rehearsals.
With just 48 hours left to go, the show has now been thrown into chaos as the former Spice Girl is yet to reveal what is wrong with her and refuses to come to contact with her act Andrea Faustini.

Speaking to the Daily Star, a source said: ‘Poor Andrea is feeling abandoned. He is already nervous about the final.
‘The poor lad is having to fend for himself backstage in the run-up to the biggest night of his life.
The insider added: ‘But Mel can’t help it. She is so poorly and may have to miss the final altogether’.
An X Factor spokesperson told the publication: ‘There’s a chance she won’t make it, absolutely’.

Both Fluer East and Ben Haenow are also gunning for the top prize, in what is set to be a nail biting finale.
And all three have already recorded their winner's singles, with Fleur and Ben opting for One Republic's Something I Need and Andrea choosing Whitney Houston's I Don't Know My Own Strength.
Mel B was unable to support her act at a pre-finals press conference on Thursday afternoon however, her fellow judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was on hand to show support for Mel’s act.

The singer also cleared up the rumours that the pair no longer get along behind-the-scenes as she said: ‘Why are you coughing? Why would there be tension?’
She continued: ‘We are very straight talking. Our approach is obviously very different on the show. Woman to woman. There was no calling out as such, it's something I would say to her.
‘You get into that moment where you're passionate about your acts but it's not personal. In fact it's the least personal it's ever been this year.’
Andrea spoke fondly of his mentor as he said: ‘Having Mel as a judge has been amazing. I can say I found a friend in Mel more than a judge. She literally did anything to make me feel at home.’
