The
first dance is one of the most important moments of any newlyweds'
special day, and that was certainly the case for Amal and George
Clooney.
In
unseen pictures from inside their lavish Italian wedding, the golden
couple can be seen gazing adoringly at each other, their foreheads
affectionately touching, with beaming smiles on their faces as they took
a turn around the room in front of their 90 guests at the seven-star
Aman Canal Grande Hotel last September.
The
photos also reveal the second dress the late Oscar de la Renta designed
for Amal for her reception, as she poses playfully with her Hollywood
husband and his groomsman in a far more party ready outfit.
They only have eyes for each other:

wedding last September
The
Gatsby-style party frock was an altered version of a longer piece from
de la Renta's Fall 2014 collection; shortened to the mid-thigh so the
bride could dance the night away with ease.
Amal
also wore a pair of beaded silver pumps before they had even hit the
runway of the late designer's Spring 2015 fashion show.
The
British human rights lawyer certainly could have passed for a glamorous
Hollywood star, and the gentleman surrounding her - including actors
Richard Kind, Miguel Ferrer and Cindy Crawford's husband Rande Gerber -
seemed to light up in her presence.
But
none more than George, who may have playfully dipped her in a cavalier
fashion amongst his male friends, but couldn't have looked happier
during their first dance. He wore a stylish Giorgio Armani tuxedo while
Amal still had on the beautiful white gown she said 'I do' in.

dress - as she's dipped by husband George and surrounded by a number of
male guests including actor Richard Kind and Cindy Crawford's husband
Rande Gerber
The
French lace gown was embroidered with diamante and pearls and featured a
circular train, while the wide neckline scooped just off her shoulders.
While
the exact price of the dress was kept under wraps, a ready-to-wear
creation by de la Renta, starts from £6,000 and it's thought that this
bespoke design could have cost in excess of £10,000.
According
to Vogue, Amal's train consisted of so much fabric that it was too
heavy for her 12-year-old flower girl Mia, her sister's daughter, to
carry.
'It's
the most important dress in the life of a woman,' de la Renta told the
publication. 'Any girl from any walk of life dreams of that special
dress, and I try to make that dream a reality for her.'
Man and wife: The guests cheer
as Walter Veltroni - the couple's close friend and ex-mayor of Rome -
completed the ceremony. Amal's mother Baria and George's parents Nick
and Nina sit on the front row
The bride selected the coveted designer to create her custom gown because of his ability to 'capture the mood' of their wedding.
'George
and I wanted a wedding that was romantic and elegant, and I can't
imagine anyone more able than Oscar to capture this mood in a dress,'
she told Vogue. 'Meeting him made the design process all the more
magical, as he is so warm and such a gentleman.'
Amal
kept her wedding jewellery simple, choosing natural pearl earrings with
square-cut diamond accents - a gift from her parents, Baria and Ramzi
Alamuddin - and of course her platinum band and engagement ring.
Another
photo seems to capture the moment when Walter Veltroni - the couple's
close friend and ex-mayor of Rome - pronounced them man and wife under
an arch of roses. Amal's mother Baria and George's parents Nick and Nina
could be seen on the front row clapping.
Her girls: Though Amal didn't have a
maid of honour, her sister Tala and neice Mia helped her get ready and
were ecstatic to see the stunning Oscar de la Renta bespoke gown for the
first time
The
couple decided not to have a maid of honour or a best man, but Amal
still had her sister Tala on hand to meet all the bride's needs ahead of
the ceremony.
Jumping for joy in a dressing gown, Tala is clearly in awe of her sister's beautiful gown, as is her 12-year-old daughter Mia.
The
nuptials took place at the seven-star hotel sunset, with crowds lining
the canal to cheer on George and Amal, as they led a flotilla of boats
down the famous Ventian waterway. A cavalcade of police boats and
photographers flanked the 450-year old building throughout the event.
Ever
the prankster, George kept the crowd entertained en route to his
wedding, pulling a series of humorous expressions as he headed to meet
his bride-to-be.

Following
the ceremony, guests were met with champagne and canapes including
polenta with wild mushrooms and prosciutto ham with figs, according to a
source.
The
couple were each joined by members of their families as well as friends
including U2 singer Bono and his wife Ali Hewson, Matt Damon and
Luciana Barrosa, Emily Blunt and husband John Krasinski, Bill Murray and
US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour.
The
couple requested that guests did not bring mobile phones to the actual
ceremony in a bid to prevent unauthorised pictures being leaked from the
event. TMZ claimed the Gravity actor gave guests a specially made
camera and code for them to use during the evening.
All
images that were taken on the approved cameras were routed to a
database that George's people could access, therefore if any photos were
then touted to the media, George would immediately be able to track
down the perpetrator.
