Taylor Swift's social media accounts were taken over by hackers on Tuesday.
Tweets
were sent instructing her 71 million plus followers to follow two users
who claim to have ties to a group of hackers called the Lizard Squad.
The hackers threatened to post naked photos of the singer, who quickly denied that they were in possession of any.
'Hackers gonna hack': Taylor Swift, pictured here in Hawaii over the weekend, has had her social media accounts taken over
'Any
hackers saying they have 'nudes'? Psssh you'd love that wouldn't you!
Have fun photoshopping cause you got NOTHING,' Swift tweeted after
regaining control of her account.
Swift,
who has been holidaying in Hawaii, used her Tumblr page to alert fans
to the hack, writing: 'Well, now I'm awake. My Twitter got hacked but
don’t worry, Twitter is deleting the hacker tweets and locking my
account until they can figure out how this happened and get me new
passwords.
'Never a dull moment.'
In a nod to her hit song, Shake It Off, she added: '#HACKERS GONNA HACK HACK HACK HACK HACK.'
'You'd love that wouldn't you': The 25-year-old denied the hackers were in possession of nude photos of her
Threatening: One of the alleged
hackers said he would post naked photos of the star, once three bitcoins
(around $800) had been deposited into an account
Swift,
who has over 20 million fans on Instagram and over 51 million on
Twitter, later wrote: 'Now instagram. This is going to be a long day.'
She concluded: '#THIS IS WHY I'M SCARED OF TECHNOLOGY #WHO'S PARANOID NOW??'
Twitter
user '@veriuser' appeared to take credit for the hack, sharing a
screenshot showing that he had access to Swift's account, with the
caption: 'I f***ing love myself.'
And
a user by the name of '@lizzard' claimed he would release nude
photographs of the pop star once the amount of three bitcoins had been
paid into an account - the equivalent to around $800.
Posing as the pop star: Hackers told
Swift's followers to follow @lizzard's page, where the Twitter user then
threatened to share nude photos of her
Suspicious post: The user @veriuser
appeared to take credit for the hack, and was another page Swift fans
were encouraged to follow in the tweets
Taking over: The star's Instagram fans
were encouraged to follow a user who shared a photo showing that he was
in control of her Twitter page
Both users - who are the same ones Swift's hackers told fans to follow while posing as the singer - have now been suspended.
On
Swift's Instagram, hackers told fans to follow the account '@trash',
who may be the same person who runs the @veriuser Twitter page, as his
name is listed as 'veri'.
The
'@trash' Instagram page is still running, and again appears to show via
a screenshot that he had control of Swift's Twitter.
Not letting it ruin her holiday: The
singer is currently in Hawaii with the band Haim, made up of sisters
Este, Daniella and Alana
