'I don't know what happened': Kanye West smiles at John Elliott's event after admitting he invited Taylor Swift to his Yeezy show but she never came

He insulted her in 2009 at the MTV Video Music Awards when he stormed the stage, insisting his friend Beyonce Knowles should have won an award for best female video and not Taylor Swift.

But Kanye West and the blonde country turned pop star seem to have made up in the past few months, so much so that the rapper expected the 1989 hit maker at his bizarre Yeezy fashion show in New York City on Thursday evening.

'She was supposed to be here today,' the 34-year-old husband of Kim Kardashian told Vogue's Andre Leon Talley. 'So I don't know what happened.'

West - who looked to be in great spirits on Friday as he took in the John Elliott & CO fashion show - had several luminaries at the event nonetheless.

Not only did his wife Kim and their daughter North, aged one, make an appearance (which provoked dirty looks from Vogue's Anna Wintour when the child cried), but there were several A-listers there too.

Beyonce came with Jay Z looked thrilled to be in the mix.

And there was also Puffy Daddy and Justin Bieber (relegated to the second row). And Rihanna was there too.

Kim's family members Khloe, Kendall Jenner and momager Kris were also seated front row.

Kylie Jenner appeared in the show for West's collaboration with Adidas.

It is not know where Swift, 25, was on Thursday evening but on Friday morning she appeared on the cover of Vogue alongside close friend Karlie Kloss.

The same day she was releasing her new music video Style.

Kanye and Taylor looked like old pals at the Grammy Awards on Sunday evening in LA.

Fashion bros: West put his hoodie up to shake hands with the designer, who wore all white

While on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Wednesday, the rapper said he may even work with the Red star.

'Yeah, she wants to get in the studio and we're definitely going to go in. Any artist with an amazing point of view, perspective, fan base, I'm down to get in the studio and work,' the father of one said.  

'I think everyone loves music, whether they love hip-hop, alternative, country,' he also told Seacrest. 

'If I could be involved in giving people any type of energy, advice in the studio, whether you're Beyonce or whether you're Taylor Swift, whether you're Jay Z whether you're Beck, whoever, and they can be reciprocal with that, I'd like to be involved with that.'

West famously stormed the stage when Beck received a Grammy on Sunday night and criticized his winning. 

On Friday West looked to be happier than usual as he smiled alongside John Elliott.

The Can't Tell Me Nothing singer disappointed in the style department by wearing all black. Black T-shirt, black jeans, black hoodie jacket. The artist also had on a fold chain. 

He shook hands with the designer and looked at the models before they hit the runway.

Also on Friday Kim was seen yawning as she headed to the airport.
