'You're Spider-Man and I love that... but I love Peter Parker more': Gwen Stacy is left conflicted in WORLD EXCLUSIVE clip from highly-anticipated sequel


It's one of the most epic love stories of all time.
But Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker's relationship hits breaking point in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as a world exclusive clip of the sequel shows.
Despite the pair's romance going from strength to strength in the first movie, Peter finds himself conflicted by his commitments between his alter ego and his relationship with Gwen.

The clip opens with Gwen waiting for Peter at their college graduation, ringing his mobile phone after he fails to arrive on time for the ceremony.
An anxious Gwen is seen asking Peter: 'Where are you? Are those sirens?'
But Peter, as Spider-Man, is otherwise engaged - on the front of a bus as he attempts to prevent a crime spree in Manhattan.

Finally! When Peter finally does make his entrance at the ceremony, Gwen berates him for lying about what he was up to

When Peter finally arrived at the graduation, Gwen shows him a news headline on her mobile phone, saying: 'Did your lateness have anything to do with the Russian mob? Why didn't you just tell me?'

Emma Stone, who plays Gwen in the film, said of her character's conflict: 'I really like what's happening with Gwen on this one - she's grown up a little bit.
'She's in the midst of graduating as Valedictorian and having that great success in her life but also trying to find her way with this boy who has a lot going on in his own life too.'
The love the pair have for each other is clear to see, with Gwen telling her beau: 'You're Spider Man, and I love that.
'But I love Peter Parker more.'
Spider-Man writer Stan Lee adds of the pair's romance: 'Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker always had a very colourful relationship.'
And when Peter confronts Gwen about the way she has been treating him, telling her: 'I didn't get a love vibe last night, I got more of a wants to kill me vibe', she replies: 'That's kind of what it's like to love you!'
But it's when Gwen gets offered the chance to study in Oxford, she decides the opportunity is to good to pass up - telling Peter: 'I have to go to England, Peter, it's important to me.
'We're just going different ways... I gotta go.'

Producer Matt Tolmach explained: 'Gwen has dreams and goals of her own - she's not waiting around for Peter Parker to decide whether he can be with her or not be with her.'
And Andrew Garfield, who stars as the title character in the new movie, added: 'Peter doesn't want to be apart from her so that's a deep inner conflict that he has to navigate and it's painful.'
However, just as Gwen heads to the airport to catch her flight to England, Peter decides to make his intentions clear.

While Gwen sits in the back of her taxi, her driver suddenly exclaims: 'It's Spider-Man!'
Getting out of the vehicle to see what is going on, a huge smile is then seen spreading across Gwen's face she sees that Peter has spelled 'I Love You' with his web on the Brooklyn Bridge.
The clip ends with Gwen being swept into Peter's arms, suggesting that the pair have once again overcome their conflicts and will continue their epic love story.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in the UK on April 18th and in America on May 2nd.
