Over
the past few weeks, fans of Dan Osborne have been shocked by the
release of audio recordings in which the TOWIE star is heard threatening
his ex-girlfriend, Megan Tomlin.
And
now Megan, mother of Dan's 15-month-old son Teddy, has spoken out about
the explosive audio, which she says she recorded in an effort to seek
help for what she deemed continual abuse.
'The tapes you’ve listened to or read about were not a one-off,' she told new!
magazine of the recordings, in which Dan is heard threatening to stab
her if she embarks on a relationship with another man. 'They were
typical of Daniel’s behaviour towards me.

'The
recordings were first made to seek help from family members. It was
only through this that people were able to see the true extent of the
problem.'
The
pretty brunette, whose relationship with Dan crumbled when he conceived
his daughter, Ella, with EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa, went on to
claim that he was so controlling, she closed down her Facebook account
within weeks of dating him to avoid arguments.
And
it's this alleged iron grip that she says made it difficult to leave
him at first, explaining: 'Many of the comments I’ve read online say
things like, "If he was that bad she would have left him straight away."
Well, it’s never as simple as that...
'When
you’re in such a relationship, it’s hard to explain to others how your
partner is manipulating you. Of course, I was in love with Daniel and I
was embarrassed to speak out about what was happening. I didn’t want
other people to criticise him and part of me hoped he would change.
'He
tried to make me believe that the situation between us was my fault.
You can hear this on the tape, when Daniel tells me I’ve broken up the
family, despite the fact he moved on when I was four months pregnant –
causing a considerable amount of strain and stress during such a
precious time.'
While
the couple had a brief and unsuccessful reunion when Teddy was four
months old, Megan tells new! that since their final break-up – and her
subsequent trip to the police with the recordings – she has been working
on overcoming the stress.
'I’ve
been to my GP numerous times because I can’t put into words how much of
a strain the situation has been,' she said. 'If you haven’t experienced
it, it’s hard to explain how much a person can get inside your mind and
control how you feel.
