Madonna and Kanye West both love to create controversy.
And
none other than Madge herself agreed that she and the All Day rapper
are 'comrades in the envelope-pushing genre', even claiming that 'Kanye
is the new Madonna' in a recent interview with New York Daily News.
The
56-year-old pop diva explained her connection with the 37-year-old
hitmaker goes far deeper than just having inflated egos - also detailing
the pair's commonality of being outliers in the music industry.
'Kanye is the new Madonna': Madge,

she and the rapper both like to push people's buttons in a new interview
with New York Daily News recently
Madonna
has come to recognize that she and Kanye - who collaborated on three
songs for her upcoming Rebel Heart album - have a shared attribute of
pushing people's buttons.
'We
know, and recognize, that we have that in common,' she explained about
their likeness for creating headlines. 'Kanye is the new Madonna. Kanye
is the black Madonna. We're comrades in the envelope-pushing genre.
'I
always feel like I'm breaking some taboo, or coming up against
something,' she continued. 'People have always judged me, and given me
s*** about one thing or another.'

Kindred spirits: 'Kanye is the new
Madonna. Kanye is the black Madonna. We're comrades in the
envelope-pushing genre. We have that in common'
Madonna
said she remains current specifically by forging a career 'that has
never stopped being challenging. It’s just that, now, I feel like I know
more and I’ve seen more. I earned my stripes.'
Adding:
'B****, I'm Madonna. And that's it. I'm opening doors for women behind
me who one day won't have to deal with s*** that I deal with.'
And this isn't her first instance of bringing up Kanye in an interview.
She handed out some advice to the 21-time Grammy winner, be it wanted or not, in a recent Rolling Stone cover story.
