'I have the cancer gene': Kelly Osbourne reveals she plans to have her ovaries removed like Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie announced this week that she has had her ovaries removed - two years after her double mastectomy to prevent the onset of cancer.
And Kelly Osbourne has now revealed that, much like the actress, she too has the 'cancer gene' and plans on taking the preventive surgery route also.
The TV star made the revelation on The Talk as the hosts discussed Jolie's brave decision and said: 'I actually do have the cancer gene.'

The 30-year-old continued: 'My mom made all of us get tested after she found out that she had it and got her double mastectomy.
'I agree with this 100 percent. I know that one day I will eventually have to do it too because if I have children, I want to be there to bring them up. I want to be there to support them in every way I can.
'It's something I applaud Angelina for because she's bringing attention to this, and people are now going to go out and get tested for it.'

While neither Kelly or her mother have suffered  ovarian or breast cancer, Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer back in 2002.
She successfully fought the disease, undergoing two surgeries - a battle that was documented n the family's reality show The Osbournes.
After her recovery Sharon underwent genetic testing that revealed she carried BRCA1, the same gene as Angelina. It was then that she opted to have her double mastectomy.

Angelina, 39, published an opinion piece in the New York Times on Monday to explain her decision to have both her ovaries and Fallopian tubes removed.
She had the surgery after tests raised fears she was in the early stages of cancer and said she is in now in menopause and will not be able to have any more children.
Having lost her mother, maternal aunt, and maternal grandmother to cancer, Angelina did not hesitate in having her surgery.
Kelly, 30 said that her mother Sharon, 62 made her family members get tested after her own experience with cancer and her double mastectomy

Meanwhile, in February Kelly revealed she had quit as co-host of E!'s Fashion Police.
Kelly told The Talk panel recently (which includes her mother Sharon) of her own departure: 'You know what? It was the five best working years of my life.'
'I am so grateful for the experience, I can't even... working with Joan Rivers for five years was incredible. I learned so much.' But she added: 'I'm excited for my future now. I want to try new things.'
Kelly quit Fashion Police shortly after the furore surrounding Giuliana's controversial comment about her friend Zendaya Coleman's hair at the Oscars.
Giuliana was forced to apologise when she said during an episode of the show that Zendaya looked as though her dreadlocks would smell of 'patchouli' or 'weed'.
After Rivers' replacement Kathy Griffin also quit after just seven episodes, the network announced on Tuesday that the series will not return until September, cancelling three scheduled episodes in the meantime.
