'It's the highest honour': Lorde moved to tears as Bruce Springsteen opens his Auckland concert with acoustic rendition of her hit song Royals

New Zealand music sensation Lorde was emotionally moved and brought to tears last week by none other than 'The Boss' Bruce Springsteen.
The 64-year-old American rocker opened his Auckland concert last weekend with an acoustic rendition of Lorde’s chart topping hit Royals.
Whilst the 17-year-old Kiwi singer wasn’t in her hometown at the time, Springsteen's musical tribute left her overwhelmed and in tears.

Lorde heard about the performance on social media whilst on tour in Austin, Texas.
‘My Twitter went mental, everyone in New Zealand was like ‘You can’t believe what just happened!’,’ she said according to News.com.au.

Lorde’s musical talent was recognised earlier this year with two Grammy awards and praise from industry big names Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and David Bowie.
But it was Springsteen’s performance of her debut song that made a massive impact on the rising star.

‘It was so exciting, it was the highest honour. He’s such an incredible songwriter. I got a little teary. It was very cool,’ she said.
The young singer, who shot to fame in 2013 after releasing debut track Royals, was in disbelief that someone of Springsteen’s calibre was singing lyrics that just a year ago were only mere inner thoughts of an unknown Auckland teenager.
“Those words were nothing before I put them into my laptop and started messing around with them in the studio. It’s crazy to me they could come out of someone’s mouth who is that respected.”
Having gone onto release smash hits Tennis Court and Team last year, Lorde’s success is set to continue.
On Thursday morning, Happy singer Pharrell revealed in an Australian morning television interview that he would love to work with Lorde.
