SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: How Tiger Lily has blossomed

She is said to have rejected ‘dozens’ of modelling contracts in favour of pursuing a drama course.
But Tiger Lily Geldof, inset, daughter of Paula Yates and late singer Michael Hutchence, has made an exception and posed topless for a tattoo brand, far right.
Wearing only black underwear, Tiger Lily, 19, who was raised by Bob Geldof after Paula’s death in 2000, shows off a large gold design on her back.
Fortunately, the tattoo is not permanent. Perhaps she has taken the advice of half-sister Peaches.
Peaches, who died of a heroin overdose last year, regretted her numerous inkings, saying: ‘Some of them I find horrendous. If I could graft a new skin for myself I would.’

Queen guitarist Brian May has been thwarted in his bid to buy a £3 million manor house — by the owner’s son.
He wanted to buy the Grade II-listed Bridge Place Manor near Canterbury. But owner Peter Malkin said after putting the property on the market, he’s had a change of heart.
‘My boy Oliver appealed to me not to sell it,’ says Malkin.
‘He was born here and I have been here for nearly 50 years, so it is very precious to us both.’ Perhaps they didn’t want a poodle-haired badger lover living in their old home.

The scandal-ridden life of the 13th Duke of Manchester has seen him married thrice, jailed twice, deported from Canada and exposed as a bigamist.
Now his current wife, ex ‘model’ Laura, seems keen to match him as a controversialist.
She accuses her 52-year-old husband’s trustees of withholding billions due to him on his 21st birthday. In a deranged blog she rants: ‘We did not hire these bankers and lawyers. They are telling the 13th Duke and Duchess of Manchester they have no money, as they live off our family’s estate funds and thousands of property’s [sic] around the globe. They abuse the family getting involved in there [sic] every move.’
A spokesman for the Duchy of Manchester Trusts says: ‘No sums were due to the 13th Duke upon his attaining the age of 21 years. Laura makes many misinformed statements about her husband’s entitlement to family money and assets.’

In between cocaine sessions with call girls, John Sewel found time to oversee the Peers’ Dining Room at the Lords. But with Lord Sewel gone, the House’s head chef Duncan Basterfield is bravely proposing a slimming down of the portly peers’ menus.
The former chef to Andrew Lloyd Webber argues that a single-menu system would reduce waste and cut the £886,996 annual taxpayer subsidy.
His plans won’t go down well with picky peers, who used to berate Sewel over the fare. One memorably sniffed that the eateries — which serve delicacies such as roulade of pigeon — were going ‘downmarket, like Prezzo or Ask’.

School bullies called me a whale...now I’m top model - (sexy photos)

With a size 16 frame and 32JJ breasts, Sophia Adams is a far cry from the slender models that strut the catwalks. So when the 21-year-old won a year’s modelling contract, no one was more shocked than her. The trainee police officer knew the odds were against her when she entered the contest for plus-size lingerie brand, Curvy Kate.

Sophia endured years of cruel taunts - “fatty”, “man-beast”, “whale” and even “big jugs” from a young age and never imagined she would have the courage to step out on stage in a bikini.

But after beating more than 1,000 curvy contestants, Sophia nabbed the top spot and prestigious prize in the company’s annual Star in a Bra competition. Now modelling agencies up and down the country have made her offers, all keen to snap her up. And her boyfriend of five years, Adrian Antonie, a council tax worker, remains her “rock”.

The half-Greek, half-Iranian beauty says: “Now I’ve won, I hope all the nasty, horrible bullies flick through the magazines and see me. I’ll have the last laugh now I’m a plus-size model.”

Sophia admits she thought she was too big even for a plus-size competition. She recalls: “There were girls at the auditions with stunning bodies. But when they announced I had won, I couldn’t believe it. It was madness — it’s still surreal even now.

“I have always embraced my curves, but I felt so much bigger than the other girls I was competing against. I feel so much sexier now I’ve won. I love my body and my larger breasts, just like Kim Kardashian does.”

During school, Sophia was always teased about her larger frame and bigger bust.
Sophia, who now weighs 13st 7lb, says:
“My boobs started growing when I was nine, so I was very developed compared to the other girls. In primary school I would get left out of a lot of games. The children would say things like, ‘it’s a two-person game’, and similar childish remarks. They’d call me fatty and tubby — they didn’t know how much their words used to hurt me. It never made me want to lose weight, I’d just eat more and more.
“I’d try dieting but I like my food too much. I’m really healthy with what I choose to eat, plus my figure is so prominent because I’m so short and my boobs are huge. But now it’s my time. I have finally bounced back from the bullies’ comments and fully embraced my curves and larger breasts.”
Despite her new-found confidence about her body, Sophia, from Northolt, North West London, hasn’t always enjoyed being the bigger girl.
Sophia says:
“I was always envious of the skinny girls throughout school, and when my breasts started to develop, I realised there was no chance I would ever be like them. After leaving school I became a bra fitter and some friends told me about this competition. They persuaded me to enter.
“I never thought I’d get through the first round, especially growing up with all the horrible remarks.”
Sophia still catches men — and sometimes women — ogling her and often gets wolf-whistled.
She says: “Despite all the negative comments I’ve had in the past, I had a thirst to prove something to myself.
“Sometimes I think women look at me in envy as my confidence is always shining through and sometimes I think they look at me because they think I’m fat.”

Photos: South African model Thando Hopa revels in her albino skin

South African lawyer and model Thando Hopa grew up in the shade, her porcelain skin protected by long sleeves and sunscreen until the day the South African decided to fight prejudice against albinos by becoming a model.

She was born with an inherited depigmentation of her skin from head to toe that can lead to discrimination and even death. Hopa uses a magnifying glass to read, is not allowed to drive, and shuns stilettos. So her first jaunt down a catwalk was something of a miracle.
Ghostly, with no make-up bar vivid fuchsia on her lips and hair sculpted to a magnificent bleached height, she exploded onto the cover of the first Forbes Life Africa back in 2013.
"It's one of the most beautiful pictures I've had taken," says Hopa, though it took years for her to grow comfortable with a bare face, her pale eyebrows almost invisible.
"I was much younger then. I could never go out without make-up... But as time goes on, your confidence just grows," she says. "It took years for me to get to a point where I could walk around without make-up."
"I had been approached to do modelling before, but I didn't go for it because I never saw the benefits. I thought, 'It's such a shallow profession -- why would I want to do that? I am a lawyer.'"
But after crossing paths with designer Gert-Johan Coetzee in downtown Johannesburg in 2012, she began thinking differently.
"Gert came to me and asked me if I would like to do a shoot and I said I would consider it," recalls Hopa. "And then I spoke to my sister. And my sister said to me, 'Don't look at modelling as modelling. Look at it as an opportunity for you to actually change perception of albinism. Remember how you grew up. Remember how people really treated you.'"

The third born in a family of four children, her youngest sibling was also born with albinism. Hopa grew up with seemingly little to complain about, doted on by a filmmaker mother and an engineer father who never missed a chance to tell her she was "the most beautiful little girl".

But even in South Africa, where reports of albinos being murdered and their organs trafficked are extremely rare, she encountered prejudice and misunderstanding.
Strangers hugged her as a symbol of good luck, others spat to fight her bad luck. Teachers misread her poor eyesight -– a side effect of albinism –- as her being mentally challenged.

"The dress was gorgeous –- black and green. I can tell you, I have never felt so expensive in my life, she said in regards to her first modelling job on the runway.

But I was actually so scared because in essence that was the first time I really walked in heels. I was even saying a little prayer when I was walking, 'God, please don't let me fall on this catwalk!' I was absolutely frightened."

For all it's brought her now, there was a time when Hopa was distressed by the realisation that she was different, when as a self-conscious girl of 12, increasingly aware of boys and her changing body, she ran to her father in tears.
"I came crying, and I said, 'Why am I not like other children? Everybody makes fun of me and I have to wear these stupid hats, and I always have to put on sun cream.' And I was crying and crying.
"And you know, my father is a wonderful man, but he doesn't really know how to deal very well with emotions. So he looked at me, and said, 'My child, let me be honest with you: when you were born, I was also shocked!'"

It's a memory she can laugh at now she's 25 and confident.
