Messi wins Best Player in Europe award
The 28-year-old has picked up his first individual
award of the season after being handed the prize after the Champions
League group stage draw
Lionel Messi has won the Uefa Best Player in Europe Award for the second time after beating Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo to the prize. The 28-year-old shone in the second half of last season as he inspired Barcelona to the treble, with the club lifting the Champions League, Copa del Rey and La Liga.
He was awarded the trophy after the group stage draw for this year's Champions League and thanked his team-mates in the aftermath of the event.
"It was an incredible year for us," he said. "I don't know if there's a secret, the dressing room was united and that made for an unforgettable year.
"Thanks to my team-mates, we are all represented. I wouldn't be here if not for them and the club."
Messi finished level on goals with Real Madrid star Ronaldo and Barcelona team-mate Neymar in Europe in 2014-15 - as all three men found the back of the net 10 times.
His Champions League haul helped him to a final tally of 62 goals in 67 games in all competitions for club and country, which means he is again likely to battle it out with Ronaldo for the Ballon d'Or in January.
Messi first won the Uefa Best Player in Europe Award back in 2011 on the back of helping the Catalans win yet another European crown.
50 Cent Puts Up His Connecticut Estate For Sale
Rapper 50 Cent is finally ready to let go of his famous 50,000-square-foot palace in Farmington, Connecticut after Hartford Courant reported on Wednesday, August, the mansion is on the market.
The rapper who declared himself bankrupt had earlier put up the property he acquired from former boxing champion, Mike Tyson back in 2003, for rent although he has been struggling to sell it out since 2007.
50, whose real name is Curtis Jackson hopes to use money from the sale to escape bankruptcy, as he has already filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month after a court injunction that he pays Rick Ross’ baby mama $7m for leaked sex tape.
The mansion boasts a jaw-dropping 21 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, a dance club inside, a helipad on top, a huge gym, massive pool, and basketball courts both inside and out — and costs him $72,000 per month to maintain.
According to the Courant, Jackson was trying to lease the property to raise money. The original 2007 listing priced the house at $18.5 million, but it has dropped steadily over the next five years.
TMZ claims the famous mansion is financially cursed
because its previous owner Mike Tyson went bankrupt while living there,
and a Lithuanian businessman also went belly up when he called it home.
But then, for a man who has $10 million in cash and
$500,000 in cars, as well as multiple endorsement deals and ongoing
business ventures, it’s hard to believe 50 is really broke.

The
Real Madrid star - ranked by Forbes as the highest-paid team athlete in
the world - has purchased a 2,509 sq ft loft in Trump Tower on Fifth

The
exclusive apartment, which reportedly inspired the setting of the novel
'50 Shades of Grey', belonged to Alessandro Proto, an Italian
real-estate tycoon and business partner of owner and Republican
presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

According
to the Warburg reality website, the loft was built in 1983 and its
interiors have been created by world-renowned designer Juan Pablo
Molyneux.
A source told the New York Post that E.L.
James, the author of '50 Shades of Grey', was inspired by the luxurious
surroundings of the apartment to create the novel's notorious bachelor
pad owned by the lead character, Christian Grey.
The
three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom apartment is situated on 5th
Avenue, 56th Street and is 'regarded as one of Manhattan's most
prestigious and secure' places to live.
It
'boasts spectacular panoramic views of Central Park to the north,
sweeping west to the Hudson River, and then south with breathtaking
views of Manhattan's most iconic buildings, including the Empire State
Building, Chrysler Building and Freedom Tower.'
Trump
Tower residents have access to a large fitness center, in-house valet
services and the building's restaurant, bar and shops.
In May,
Forbes rated Ronaldo as the world's highest-paid team athlete and the
highest-paid football player after he earned $79million last year in
salary, bonus and endorsements - putting him ahead of rival Lionel
Messi, who was in second place.
Three
years after Ronaldo sealed his £80million switch from Manchester United
to Real Madrid in 2009, he put his British home in Cheshire up for sale
for $1.4million (£899,950).
Described
as a 'handsome five-bedroom detached residence', the Stockport mansion
featured five luxury bedrooms split on two floors.
Ronaldo,
who split with his long-term girlfriend Irina Shayk at the start of the
year, is thought to be considering a move to America's Major League
Soccer when his Madrid contract ends in 2018.
Sports Illustrated
reports that 'multiple sources' claim the 30-year-old Portugal
international is open to a move across the Atlantic when his current
deal ends.

The
timing would fit with the planned first season of the new franchise Los
Angeles Football Club, with Ronaldo said to prefer a move to
California.
Former
England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard recently made the switch
to the city's existing team, LA Galaxy, where David Beckham spent five
seasons.
However, Ronaldo's purchase of a New York pad might arouse the attention of New York Red Bulls and New York City.
Former
Arsenal star Thierry Henry played for the Red Bulls, while New York
City have Spain's all-time top goalscorer David Villa and Chelsea legend
Frank Lampard on their books.
