They only kicked off the American leg of their On The Road Again tour on Thursday night.

But One Direction's Harry Styles ensured he was the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons as he took an epic tumble off the stage at the Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California.

Dragging his microphone across the performance space and throwing up some fist-pumps, the 21-year-old hearthrob proved his ability to multi-task isn't the greatest as he took a giant fall in front of the screaming crowd.

Oopsy! The 21-year-old hearthrob proved his ability to multi-task isn't the greatest as he took a giant fall in front of the screaming crowd 

'Hands in the air,' the star shouted to the crowd during a performance of Through The Dark as they delighted the sold-out arena .

But just seconds later it was the Story Of My Life crooner who was in the air, much to the amusement of the crowd and his three bandmates Liam Payne, 21, Louis Tomlinson, 23, and Niall Horan, 21.

It certainly wasn't a clean fall either, as a small trip - which he attempted to even out with a Matrix style lean - eventually saw the long-haired heartthrob run head-first into the set.

Bye Harry! The curly-haired cutie completely stacked it off the side of the stage as his bandmates carried on performing around him 

Sitting up on the floor, the British singer looks at the rest of One Direction with an embarrassed smirk before rising to his feet and composing himself before the shrieking audience. 

Fortunately the star saw the funny side and immediately carried on with the rest of the show. 

By Friday morning, Harry seemed well over the awkwardness of his gaffe as he grabbed an iced-coffee in Downtown Los Angeles. 

A true professional: Harry was back up and dancing again within seconds of the dramatic tumble
