EXCLUSIVE 'I'd like to thank my Twitter trolls': Holly Hagan admits vile internet abuse set her on the road to incredible body transformation

She’s the latest Geordie Shore housemate to shape up thanks to rigorous dietary and fitness programmes, but Holly Hagan admits her road to body confidence started long before she found fame on the hit MTV show.
The 22-year-old has lost three-stone over a difficult four year period during which she freely admits she struggled to stay away from greasy kebabs during nights out with pals in her native Newcastle.
But her decision to shape up had less to do with the gym and more to do with social media, primarily Twitter, where she found herself routinely subjected to vile taunts about her weight.

Reflecting on the abuse as she promotes the new Protein World Weight Loss Collection, Holly told MailOnline it gave her an inadvertent and unexpected kick start.
‘I don’t want to say its because of Twitter or anything like that but with all the comments I was getting, 90 percent of them were about my weight and were commenting on how I was fat, or how I was ugly,’ she said.
‘It upset me at the time and did inspire me to lose it. I just wanted to work a bit harder but also to be a lot healthier because I couldn’t run up the stairs. It has been a four year journey for me.’

The reality star has since dropped four dress sizes, plummeting from a voluptuous size 16 to slim line size 8 - and she has a clear message for the trolls who plagued her with abuse.
‘To be honest I’d like to thank those people who called me those names,’ she said. ‘It did give me a little bit of a push, but nobody should lose weight because someone calls them fat.
'I'll always get the fat comments. I don't think that's ever going to change but now I just get the odd one in every 100.'

'When I went in the show I was the biggest girl in there so it has been a massive journey,' she admitted. 'Vicky and Charlotte were really slim whereas I was a lot bigger than them.
'It was slow process. I lost a bit of weight and then I put it back on. But on the show if one girl’s eating healthy then we’ll all jump on the bandwagon, but of one of us says lets go and get a kebab we’ll go and do that.'
She added: 'I was only 18 when I went on the show. I used to work in a call centre and sit at a little desk with my food and then go to my boyfriend’s after work – I just wasn’t living a very healthy lifestyle.

Fortunately for the reality star, her dramatic weight loss hasn't affected her relationship with boyfriend Kyle Christie.
'When we first started on the show you’re drinking all the time and it becomes really difficult,' she said. 'He's just happy as long as I'm happy. Me and Kyle started getting together when I was about four and a half stone bigger.
'He knows that I'm happy when I've lost the weight so if I'm happy he's happy.'
