Unlike most, the 26-year-old did not just reach for anything warm - she reached for anything that was designer to head out in New York on Friday night.
Not too shabby: Rihanna did not let the cold impact on her style as she headed sola Trattoria & Crudo Bar at the Mondrian SoHo in New York on Friday
While winter was really making its presence felt, the pop star was not letting that stop her from making a stylish appearance at the Isola Trattoria & Crudo Bar at the Mondrian SoHo to meet friends.
For her night out, the Rude Boy star donned an impossible to miss - and not doubt impossibly expensive - vintage full length Christian Dior fur-lined suede trench.
The heavy jacket - which featured a fur collar and the design house's initials in gold down it - allowed the Barbadian beauty to wear rolled up boyfriend jeans and forgo chunky warm boots.

One for the road! The 26-year-old left her apartment with a glass of red wine in hand to tide her over until she got to the bar
Instead of weatherproof footwear, Rihanna strutted her way into the bar in a pair of grey Manolo Blahnik lace up pumps.
Not done there, the songstress carried a tiny Louis Vuitton monogram bag, which she had made her own with a neon caution signal on the front.
Adding to her glamorous look, the pop star wore her long black hair out and flowing down her back in soft curls as well as wearing bright red lipstick.

Rihanna is about to be very busy as she reportedly has two albums in the works, including her eighth studio album and a concept project for Home, a DreamWorks animated film, of which she lends her voice to a character named Tip.
The concept piece will include 12 original songs, and the movie hits theatres on March 27, which the website speculates is an indicator that her highly anticipated R8 album is likely to be released ahead of the Home project.
The film co-stars Jim Parsons, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez, and the Battleship actress will voice a teen who manages to escape after Earth after an alien invasion.
